Lessons Learned in Curly Hair

I've spent over half my life straightening my wild curly hair. Trying to blow dry it straight, brushing it out. My middle school years I looked like Hermione Granger in the early Harry Potter movies... I had no idea what to do with my hair!! No one in my family had hair like mine, I would have appreciated some advice. In my adult life I begin the search for the perfect product. I was a hair product junkie looking for that perfect product to make my hair look like a Victoria Secret runway model. I have come to realize that there aren't magical products but I have come close to perfecting a regimen that works (When I have plenty of time!)

1. I wash my hair with a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. (I never have the same shampoo and conditioner for long) I love anything with coconut oil!
2. Dry with Terry Cloth towel or Tshirt.. Never use a regular towel, they make frizz worse!
3. Apply small amounts of Biosilk OilKnot Today Leave InClimate Control Gel, & Recoil curl activator. I use them in that order and a little goes a long way with all of these!
4. Blow dry hair upside down with a diffuser. I work with small sections at a time. I use the lowest speed setting with the highest heat.

After I had kids I thought my curl was gone. Now after giving it some TLC it has come back better than ever!
Best of Luck!

P.S~ I wish I had a dollar for every time someone asked me if I got a perm!!

Great Hair Day :)

Saving Money The Easy Way

Money Saving Sites

There are tons of money saving sites out there these days. Even apps for your phone have made saving money so easy! I have taken advantage of several sites and made a good chunk of money back on things I already needed to buy. I love saving money the easy way!

Phone Apps:
Ibota- Use biota when you shop at the grocery store. Select the items you are buying while in the store. Use your store reward cards or take a picture of the receipt in the app to earn money back. When you reach $10 you can transfer to paypal! I have earned almost $40 back this year and it is super easy!           https://ibotta.com/register?friend=g5ikaq
Checkout 51- Same as Ibota but different products, fresh produce are often on this app.                            https://www.checkout51.com
Saving Star- Another app similar to Ibota. also has fresh produce and every Friday one item is completely free!    https://savingstar.com/coupons

Walmart Savings Catcher- Use this app when you shop at Walmart. Scan your receipt and the app will look for lower prices in your area. Whatever the difference is will be loaded on an e gift card for Walmart.                          https://savingscatcher.walmart.com

The same products are often on all 3 grocery apps. When you combine them you can get some of your groceries for less than a dollar!! Even if you use a coupon on these items you still get the money back.
Online
Ebates- One of my favorite sites is Ebates! use their link to shop online at almost any store! A percentage of your purchase is given back to you by ebates. They send out checks every few months. I have booked trips through Expedia using Ebates and gotten some great checks! I love getting money back for something I am already buying!                                            Shop with Ebates here!

Hope you enjoy saving money with these awesome sites!

Sharpie Tie Dye

I have tried several Sharpie tie dye projects but this has been my favorite so far!
You will need~

  • white shoes
  • different colors of sharpies
  • alcohol
  •  medicine dropper/syringe

I got a pair of white shoes from Walmart for $6. They had a few marks on them but that was ok because I planned on covering them up.
I picked out my sharpie colors and got to work!

I used a dot pattern but you can do any pattern you wish. Once I was done coloring I filled my syringe with alcohol and started dropping it on the dots, I made sure they were fairly wet. Once wet the color will start to spread.

I decided to go back and color the tongue for more contrast. It took a while for them to dry, I let them sit for a day.

Succulents

I have been planting succulents for sometime now and wanted to get more varieties. Unfortunately our local Lowe's doesn't have a wide variety of them. So I decided to order some from Etsy. I found a neat little shop from California that will ship clippings of different succulents. You can get anywhere from 6 to over a hundred clippings!! I planted mine in a small container until they start growing well and i can put them in their own neat pots. There are so many cool ideas for them on pinterest and the best part is that pinching off small parts of the plants will grow new ones! If you would like to order your own i suggest you order fromThe succulent garden

Jamberry Nails

I have had many friends ask me about my nails. I have been using Jamberry nails for a few months now and LOVE them. Mine usually last a little over a week. I wash my hands a lot at my job and nail polish never lasts more than a day for me. Jamberry nails are kind of like a sticker for your nail but are much stronger than the kind you buy at the drugstore. I apply mine using heat from my hair straightener and it works well for me. Here are some pictures of my manicures. I have several more posted on my Instagram.

Starting Something new

I have wanted to blog for a while but with two busy boys I rarely have time to do anything extra! I am a lover of many things. I will be posting when I can and hope that someone will enjoy them!
